Emma Husar Bio, Biography

Emma Husar was born on 20 April 1980 in Kingswood, New South Wales, Australia. She is an Australian politician for the Australian Labor Party (ALP) and a  member for the Australian House of Representatives seat of Division of Lindsay since the 2016 federal election.

The embattled Labor MP Emma Husar resigned on 8 August 2018 as the Member of Parliament for the Division of Lindsay saying “enough is enough” and that she has been the victim of a smear campaign by “faceless people”. Emma also announced that she would not re-contest her seat but would remain a member until the next federal election.

Emma Husar Education and Career

Emma Husar went to school at St Joseph’s Primary Kingswood, Caroline Chisholm College, Southport TAFE and was enrolled in Bachelor of Primary Teaching at Western Sydney University.

Emma Husar First job was at St McDonald’s Penrith, she has also worked at TAD Disability Services, Australian Paralympics Committee, Foot Locker Westfield Penrith, American Express, Telstra Child Flight. Her Last job before joining politics was an adviser for Chifley federal Labor MP Ed Husic.

Husar ran as the ALP candidate for the seat of Penrith at the 2015 New South Wales election but was unsuccessful.

Emma Husar History of Domestic Violence

On 23 November 2016, in her second speech to Parliament, she revealed her family history of domestic violence.

She is quoted as saying that, “When I was 13 years old, police cars pulled up on the street of my family home, just in time. My father was always drunk and abusive. She had ordered me and my elder sister to start digging up the backyard with a metal shovel.”

Emma Husar is currently a single mother of three, She suffered years of physical and psychological abuse at the hands of her husband.

Emma Husar Controversies and Ensuing Investigations

In July 2018, it was reported that Husar was under investigation since March 2018 due to staff complaints of workplace bullying and misconduct.  Husar then went on personal leave, citing the attention on the investigation as the reason.  A news agency, BuzzFeed News, reported that the 38-year-old MP would refer to staff members as “f***wits” and c***s” (fuckwits and Cunts) and they would fall in and out of her favor.

She has three children,  Zhalia, Mitch and Evie who are 16, 11 and 10 years old respectively as of 2018. One of her children is also autistic, a developmental disorder that impairs the ability to communicate and interact.
