Redoine Faid Biography

Faid is the child of an Algerian immigrant. Her mother died in 1990 and that is when he began committing serious crimes.

In the wake of carrying out his first burglary, Faid fled to Israel disguised as an Orthodox Jew to avoid prosecution, and while there learned Hebrew. In the mid-1990s, Faid and Jean-Claude Bisel led a criminal gang that was responsible for the armed robbery, jewel theft, and extortion in the Paris territory. In 1997, seven of eight accused were tried for said charges (the eighth having fled to Algeria). He was sentenced to 30 years but was released on parole after ten years in jail.

In 2009 he wrote a book, Braqueur: Des cités au fabulous banditisme, about spending his early childhood in a life of crime’ banlieues. In the book, he is quoted saying that he has given up a life of crime. However, he was the suspected mastermind of an armed robbery that claimed the life of a policewoman in 2010. He was caught after he broke parole in 2011. He was subsequently sentenced to eight years in prison.

Redoine Faid Prison escapes / Breaks 

On the morning of 13 April 2013, he broke out of the Sequedin prison, utilizing explosives to blast through five jail doors, holding four prison wardens hostage during the escape and employing the use of an escape car. He, later on, burned the car in Lille and left in another vehicle. That same day, a Europe-wide warrant was issued. Faid was captured again on 29 May 2013, in a B&B Hotels in Pontault-Combault, Seine-et-Marne, France.

At around 11:30 am on 1 July 2018, Faid broke out of jail in Réau with the assistance of three heavily armed accomplices and a helicopter, at different points of the prison to create confusion. The helicopter was piloted by a flying instructor that had been kidnapped, from a close-by landing strip and compelled to partake in the act. The helicopter was later found not a long way from the Charles de Gaulle air terminal, and it is trusted that he got away via a car alongside the three men. Sources indicate that the flight instructor has been released unharmed.

Faid has main influence comes from the American crime films such as Scarface, Reservoir Dogs, and Heat. He has also been compared to French bank robber and serial prison escapee Jacques Mesrine (1936–1979). He has on several occasions stated the Mesrine as one of his heroes.
