London Breed Bio, Biography

London Breed full name London Nicole Breed  was born 11 August 1974. She is an American lawmaker from California who is the Mayor Elect of the City and County of San Francisco and its first black female mayor, and its second female mayor.

London Breed Bio, Biography

Breed was Brought up under challenging circumstances due to poverty. She worked in government after completing her studies. She was chosen to the Board of Supervisors in 2013 and elected as its president 2015. As President of the Board, Breed, as according to the city charter became the acting mayor of San Francisco following the demise of Mayor Ed Lee. She served in this role from December 12, 2017, to January 23, 2018.

Breed was a hopeful candidate in the San Francisco mayoral election, which was held on June 5, 2018. She unofficially became the mayor-elect after the concessions of Mark Leno and Jane Kim, respectively the second-and third-place contenders in the election. Breed is the second lady to be chosen mayor of San Francisco.

London Breed Early life and Education

Conceived in San Francisco, Breed was brought by her grandma up in Plaza East open lodging in the Western Addition neighborhood of the city. Breed later wrote of her youth in San Francisco:

Five of us lived on $900 every month. ‘Reusing’ food and drinking out of old mayonnaise containers. Brutality was never far away. What’s more, once per week, we took Grandma’s handcar to the community space to gather government issued grocery supplies.” One of her sisters died of a drug overdose while another is in prison.

Breed completed her high school in Galileo High School. Breed earned a Bachelors degree from the University of California, Davis in 1997 and a masters degree in Public Administration from the University of San Francisco in 2012.

London Breed Mayor

Following the passing of Mayor Ed Lee on December 12, 2017, Breed turned into the city’s acting mayor by her position as President of the Board of Supervisors.

On January 23, 2018, the Board of Supervisors chose Mark Farrell to fill in as interim mayor until the point when a special by election would be held. Citing to Ron Conway’s role as a benefactor to Breed, Supervisors Aaron Peskin and Jane Kim, considered the progressive members of the board, seeking to deny Breed the benefits while approaching the election.

Breed ran in the mayoral election on June 5. Breed led in the underlying votes count in front of the rest of the competitors. Mark Leno came in second with 25.9 percent, and Kim with 22.8 percent. Leno led the pack the following day after the tabulation of ranked ballots On June 9. On June 13, with just 8,000 tallies left to count, Leno conceded defeat and congratulated Breed on her triumph.
