Nicole Amber Maines Bio

Nicole Amber Maines was born in  7 October 1997 and is currently 21 years old as of 2018. She is an American actress who is mainly renowned for being featured in the HBO documentary ‘The Trans List‘ and is the subject of the book “Becoming Nicole” by author Amy Ellis Nutt.   She also made a guest appearance, as a transgender teen, in an episode of the USA Network TV drama Royal Pains.

In June 2013 Nicole Maines and her family went to court after her school prevented her from using the girls’ toilet. As a result, Maine’s Supreme Judicial Court ruled the school had violated the state’s human rights act.

Wyatt and Jonas Maines

Twins born as identical boys, but one always wanted to be a girl They were identical twin boys, Wyatt and Jonas Maines, adopted at birth in 1997 by middle-class, conservative parents. Healthy and happy, they were physically indistinguishable from each other, but even as infants their personalities seemed to diverge. Wyatt later became Nicole Maines.

Nicole Amber Maines is an American actress and an Activist who was featured in the HBO documentary ‘The Trans List.’ She is also the subject of the book “Becoming Nicole” by author Amy Ellis Nutt. Nicole made a guest appearance, as a transgender teen, in an episode of the USA Network TV drama Royal Pains. Maines was the pseudonymous plaintiff of Doe v. Clenchy, brought before the Maine Supreme Judicial Court in June 2013, which set a precedent for allowing transgender people to use the bathroom of their choice.

Nicole Maines  first transgender superhero in Supergirl

At San Diego Comic-Con July 2018, it was announced that Maines would join the main cast of Th CW series Supergirl as the first transgender superhero, Nia Nal / Dreamer. “It seems only fitting that we have a trans superhero for trans kids to look up to,” she said after the announcement at Comic Con in San Diego, California.

In a statement to Variety, Nicole Maines said: “I want fans to take away an understanding of trans people. We can be anybody, we can be who we want, we can be superheroes – because in many ways we are.”
