Sharice attended Haskell Indian Nations University and the University of Kansas before graduating from Johnson County Community College and later the University of Missouri-Kansas City. She went on to earn a law degree from Cornell Law School.

Sharice Davids is a member of the Ho-Chunk nation. She has experience working on reservations; she spent time as a lawyer for an Native American reservation in South Dakota. Sharice also has experience working with the political elite: After growing up with a single mom, attending community college and graduating from Cornell Law School, Davids served as a White House fellow during President Barack Obama’s tenure in 2016-2017.

Sharice Davids 2018 Kansas (Third Congressional District) Democrat Candidate

Sharice did not make way for an easy Democratic primary battle conducted on Tuesday 8th August 2018. Davids ran in a crowded race, facing five opponents in eastern Kansas, including one who was endorsed by Sen. Bernie Sanders and New York congressional candidate Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Together, the nationally-known duo campaigned for labor lawyer Brent Welder, who came in a narrow second place to Davids. But in the time since the primary election concluded, the Democrats have already come together, hosting a “unity” rally on Wednesday.

Brent Welder announced that he would give Davids his full support in the general election, and Ocascio-Cortez tweeted her congratulations.

Sharice Davids LGBTQ

Davids would also become the second-ever openly lesbian member of Congress, after Wisconsin Sen. Tammy Baldwin. And she would be the first openly LGBT person to represent deep-red Kansas, where pro-gay rights activists have spent years fighting bills they see as discriminatory on issues like adoption and participation in college campus groups, at the state or federal level.

Sharice, along with her brother, created Starty Pants – a video podcast that highlights entrepreneurs in the Greater Kansas City area with a focus on women, people of color and LGBTQ founders. “I think there are a lot of people here who really don’t agree with the impression you might get from the legislature or decisions that come out of the legislature,” she says. “People here don’t want folks to be treated as second-class citizens because they are part of the LGBTQ community.”

Sharice Davids MMA

Sharice is highly trained in martial arts and has competed as both an amateur and professional in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA).

Davids won her first professional mixed martial arts fight in November 2013.
